3-Dimensional Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT)
Technologies like 3D CBCT are an important complement to treatment. For instance, Dr. Kersey uses this technology to assess the quality and availability of bone in the jaw before implant placement. He also uses images from CBCT scans to pinpoint exactly where to place implants. Precision planning and implant placement are essential to ensure successful treatment and predictable, proper healing.
Unlike conventional CT scanners, CBCT systems feature arms that rotate around patients by 360 degrees. As this is done, quality images of the teeth, mouth, and jaw are captured using a cone-shaped X-ray beam. This advanced service helps us to get a large volume of images from various angles and in a matter of seconds. Use of a cone-shaped beam is also associated with up to 98% less radiation exposure than standard CT scans.
Digital dental radiographs
Care recommendations are only effective if they target the right problem. So, Dr. Kersey must have an accurate understanding of each patient’s unique needs. He uses modern X-ray systems to detect and understand what cannot be seen with the naked eye. Our digital systems use specialized sensors and plates to produce highly detailed images. This process is associated with a fraction of the radiation exposure of conventional film-based radiography.
Additionally, we can view these images on a monitor, show them to you, and discuss the condition of a tooth, restorations, and other areas of the mouth that may require attention or treatment. We can even zoom in on specific areas and adjust the images so you can better see and appreciate what is happening in your mouth. Intraoral cameras
This technology also allows us to show and not just tell you about the condition of your teeth, gums, and other areas. Digital cameras are small, wand-like cameras that we insert in your mouth. As the camera is activated and moved over the teeth and gums, you and Dr. Kersey can view these areas in real time on a monitor. These images are extremely clear and highly magnified, which helps Dr. Kersey identify problems early before they cause significant damage. We can also use these images to monitor changes in your oral health.
